We start with concrete proposals for improving the quality of life in our city centre.
Mara Michel formulates the issue: ‘Social cohesion arises from a culture of togetherness, in colourful and green meeting places in the middle of the city.’
She then presents a project on how the clothing industry can avoid its mountains of waste: ManuFashion Manufakturen – made in Germany becomes a seal of quality again.
Next, we discuss the lack of empathy in our society with Heike Leitschuh.
In her book “Ich zuerst – eine Gesellschaft auf dem Egotrip” (Me first – a society on an ego trip), she emphasises: ‘Politicians and the media are neglecting the problem. So it's high time to rethink and take countermeasures.’
Everyone is currently talking about artificial intelligence (AI). Does it harm us, dumb us down or help to make our everyday working lives easier? René Lang says: ‘AI is only as smart as its prompters.’ An exciting discussion on this topic follows his presentation.
Did you know that Continental in Germany and Frumat in South Tyrol are producing a new leather-like material from coffee grounds and apple pomace? Young fashion designer Pia Bender is researching this and says: ‘Somehow, everything on our planet is recycled. So why not integrate this into the fashion world? We need clothes that are valued and good for us and our environment.’
And did you know that old newspapers can be turned into wearable fashion? Young designer Paul Rendenbach shows us how with five models.
Between each lecture and panel discussion, we will of course be providing refreshments.
After concentrating on listening, watching, thinking and discussing, you can dance to swing, bossa nova and samba with the band
Duo Buffy & Böttger.
Admission is FREE for the whole day.
